Off-Premise Backups
We provide a off-premise backups for a couple of reasons. Too many times, the person responsible for backup is often too busy or forgets to do proper backups. When backups are accomplished, they need to be done at the end of the day, which means someone stays late waiting for sometimes an hour or so.
Backups are only as good as the media that they reside on. Tapes are great when they are new, but too often they are worn and are not readable. From years of personal experience, multiple tape backups fail at about a 50% to 60% rate. Backups also need to be stored off-premise due to fire and theft. Not many thieves will remove your tape from your machine as they walk out the door with your computer.
Backup of Operating System: Many people backup their data, but have no way of restoring the Operating system (Windows 95/95, NT, etc). Restoring of a server with all software available can take on average about 6 hours for an experienced NT server guy/gal (we're not cheap either). When programs are loaded to a machine, many times disks are loaned, serial numbers and disks are lost which makes it impossible to reload without repurchasing these programs just to use the data you've backed up.
The Solution: We make an image file of your hard drive every 6 months, which is a complete copy of your hard drive, and store it on our servers. This file can be reloaded in about 30 minutes and it will put your computer back to were you were the date we made the file. After it has been restored, the daily backups from our servers are then applied to your machine until it is at the date of the last backup (normally the day before the crash). It is transmitted by secure means (Encrypted Net and Direct Dial Modem) and stored on secure NT Servers at our site under lock and key. These backups and transmitting of data is all done automatically during your down time as not to bother your daily business.
What sets up apart is that when you have a crash, the restoration service is free.
